Maryland Firearms Application Fees

The following fees are charged by the State of Maryland and are separate from any training costs. Fees are paid directly to the Maryland State Police during the application process.

Maryland Handgun Qualification License (HQL)
• Initial Application Fee: $50.00
• Renewal Fee: $20.00
• Replacement / Duplicate: $20.00

Fingerprinting is required for most applicants and is completed through an approved LiveScan provider. Fingerprint fees are set by the provider and are not included in the state application fee.

Maryland Wear and Carry Permit (Handgun Carry Permit)
• Initial Application Fee: $125.00
• Renewal Fee: $75.00
• Replacement / Modification: $20.00

Application fees are paid electronically through the Maryland State Police Licensing Portal. Initial applications require fingerprint submission. Renewal applications do not require new fingerprints.

District of Columbia Firearm Application Fees

The following fees are charged by the District of Columbia and are separate from any training costs:

• Concealed Carry Pistol License (CCPL) Application Fee: $75 (initial & renewal)
• Fingerprint Fee: $35 (required for CCPL)

Fees are paid directly to the Metropolitan Police Department at the time of application. Additional firearm registration fees may apply if required.

Utah Concealed Firearm Permit Fees

The following fees are charged by the State of Utah and are separate from any training costs:

• Initial Application Fee (Utah Resident): $52
• Initial Application Fee (Non-Utah Resident): $87
• Renewal Fee (Utah Resident): $50

Fees are paid to the Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI) when submitting a concealed firearm permit application.
